9 Ways to Dress 90's Grunge

Ripped Denim—You definitely want ripped denim if you want to accomplish the grunge look. Ripped and acid washed denim is the staple of this unique style. You can get store-bought ripped denim, or for a more authentic look, you can rip them yourself.

  1. Plaid—It’s the perfect pattern to add to your outfit. And instead of wearing your plaid flannel the regular way, dare to be different. Tie and knot that flannel around your waist.

  1. Bleach Tie-Dye—Take your favorite band’s concert t-shirts and bleach splatter them. This also adds a nice pattern to accentuate your fit.

  2. Check out your local thrift store—Don’t be afraid to go thrifting. What better way to accomplish 90’s grunge than to get apparel from the actual 90’s!

  3. Don’t be neat or polished!—A big part of 90’s grunge is layering.

  4. Accessorize—Ladies if you’re afraid of looking too much like a dude, then accessorize to the gawds! Invest in some large hoop earrings. Dress your t-shirt up with a statement piece necklace, as well as some rings—you can even put one on every other finger! Fellas take it up a notch and wear a baseball cap and some gold frame, clear eyeglasses.

  1. Leather--For when the weather is a bit low, pair your outfit with a leather (preferably a classic black) moto jacket

  2. Bomber--If leather is not your forte (but why wouldn't it be), you can swap it for a nice bomber jacket!

  3. Shoes—Converse will become your best friend! But if you’re looking for something a little different:

  • Nike Roshe

  • Nike Air Huarache

  • Puma Suede or Puma by Rihanna Creepers

  • Adidas by YEEZY

  • Timberlands
